Overview

The island that gets the balance right. Naoussa's old fishing harbour now hosts some of the best restaurants in the Cyclades, yet the boats still land their catch each morning. Inland, the marble village of Lefkes drowses in the hills, while around the coast, golden beaches serve sunseekers and kitesurfers alike. Lively without the crush, stylish without the fuss.

Paros harbour and coastline
  • Naoussa

A tiny Venetian harbour ringed by whitewashed lanes, where fishing boats bob beside cocktail bars. By day it is quiet and photogenic; by night it is the most charming evening in the Cyclades.

  • Villages of Marble

Parian marble built the Venus de Milo, and the island's villages carry that heritage. Lefkes climbs the hills in white and blue, and Parikia hides the Church of a Hundred Doors, one of the oldest in Greece.

  • Beaches and Big Wind

Golden Beach and Pounda are among Europe's finest kitesurfing and windsurfing spots, while Kolymbithres offers calm water between sculpted granite rocks. Whatever the day calls for, Paros has the beach.

Paros has quietly become the island insiders choose. It has the whitewashed beauty of its famous neighbours, the food scene to match and none of the crush; a place where you can dine brilliantly in Naoussa one evening and have a mountain village square to yourself the next morning.

The coast is remarkably varied for one island. Kolymbithres curls around granite boulders on the calm side of the bay, Santa Maria offers clear shallows for families and the east coast catches the meltemi wind that makes Golden Beach and Pounda a world stage for kitesurfing. A short boat hop away, Antiparos adds sea caves and even quieter sands.

Inland, Paros remembers where its marble went: to the Venus de Milo and half the great sculpture of antiquity. Lefkes, the old capital, sits high in the hills along a Byzantine footpath that still makes one of the loveliest walks in the islands, and in Parikia the Ekatontapiliani, the Church of a Hundred Doors, has stood since the fourth century.

With our local team, Paros comes together effortlessly: a villa near the right beach for your kind of holiday, dinner reservations on Naoussa's harbour, a skipper for the day trip to Antiparos and the walks and villages matched to your pace. You arrive, and the island simply flows.

Good To Know

Food

Paros eats wonderfully at every level, from grilled octopus on Naoussa's harbour to slow village lunches in Lefkes. Look for gouna, the island's sun dried mackerel, local wines from ancient vineyards and cheeses from the hill farms. Reservations matter in Naoussa on summer evenings; we handle those for you.

Weather & Getting Around

May, June and September are the sweet spot, warm and unhurried; July and August bring energy and the meltemi wind that surfers love. The island has an airport with short flights from Athens and fast ferries from Piraeus. Roads are good and distances short, so a car or private driver puts every village and beach within easy reach.
