Overview

Kassandra makes no apology for being the busy one. The first finger of Chalkidiki sits barely an hour from Thessaloniki airport, and it has spent decades perfecting the holiday where everything is already arranged: the sunbeds waiting, the water sports running, the table booked, the music starting as the sun goes down.

  • The Easiest Arrival in Greece

Land at Thessaloniki, drive an hour, swim before your room is ready. No ferries, no transfers between islands, no logistics at all. For a week that starts the moment you land, nowhere in Greece beats this.

  • Everything Already Arranged

Organised beaches with sunbeds and bars, resorts with pools and spas, water sports on tap and dinner never more than ten minutes away. Kassandra is built for holidays that require no planning.

  • The Only Real Nightlife in Chalkidiki

After dark the finger comes alive. Kallithea and Pefkochori keep the bars full past midnight, with music that carries down to the sand. If your holiday has a soundtrack, this is where it plays.

The west coast is where the energy lives: a near continuous run of organised beaches from Sani down through Kallithea to Pefkochori, backed by resorts, beach clubs and tavernas that stay busy from breakfast until long after dark. This is the Greece of easy days, where the hardest decision is a second frappe or a first swim, and where families and groups of friends can share the same beach without either compromising.

But Kassandra keeps an older face too, and it is worth finding. Afytos sits on a low cliff above the sea, a village of honey coloured stone where tavern terraces hang over the water and the sunset turns the whole gulf pink. Nea Fokea gathers around a Byzantine tower on its little harbour, and inland villages like Kassandrino remind you that people lived whole lives here before the sunbeds arrived. An evening in Afytos is the single best thing on the finger; do not leave without one.

The beaches themselves range from the famous to the found. Possidi stretches into the sea on a sandbar that shifts with the currents, so you can walk out into open water with sand under your feet the whole way. Paliouri and the southern tip hide quieter coves for the days you want less music, and everywhere the water keeps that clear Chalkidiki blue that made the region's name.

Choose Kassandra if you want the shortest transfer, the fullest calendar and somewhere to go when the sun goes down. And if halfway through the week you find yourself craving silence, the pine coves of Sithonia are only an hour east: one more reason the first finger makes such an easy base.

Good To Know

Getting Around

Kassandra has the shortest transfer in Chalkidiki: under an hour from Thessaloniki airport to the first beaches, and about an hour and a half to the southern tip. A car is still worth having for Afytos evenings, Possidi sunsets and escapes to the quiet south, though on this finger, unlike the others, you could manage a happy week without one if your resort sits on the beach.

When to Go

The season opens in May and runs to early October. July and August bring the full buzz, when the beach clubs and bars run at capacity and the finger is at its liveliest; book well ahead for those weeks. June and September keep the warm sea and the open restaurants with softer crowds and kinder prices, and suit families with younger children best.

Beaches and Beach Clubs

Most beaches on the west coast come organised, with sunbeds, umbrellas and a bar behind you; some of the smarter clubs charge for the front rows in high summer or set a minimum spend. If you prefer your sand free and simple, the east coast and the southern coves stay far more low key. We can point you to the right beach for the mood of each day.

Why Choose GreeceVisits

Why Choose GreeceVisits
  • The Right Base, Not Just a Room

The difference between a great week on Kassandra and a loud one is location. We know which resorts face the quiet stretch of sand, which villages put you five minutes from the buzz without sleeping in it, and which suits your group.

  • Our Own People on the Ground

Our drivers, guides and local captains live and work in northern Greece. These are their home roads and home waters, which means the right beach at the right hour and a table held when the seafront fills.

  • Twenty-Five Years of Trust

GreeceVisits is built on more than 25 years of experience as Italy Vacation Specialists. The relationships we have built across the Mediterranean are what let us open doors that stay closed to most visitors.

  • Shaped Around You

No two journeys are the same. We work closely with you to build a trip that fits your pace, your group and the kind of Greece you came to find.
